Truss goes back on Abbott's MH370 search promise

THE continued search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has been expanded after a Canberra meeting of Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss with senior officials from Malaysia and China.

Almost a month after the flight disappeared on March 8, Mr Truss said more meetings would be scheduled this week to look at the data and information gather to date.

But the expanded search area of the ocean floor comes after Prime Minister Tony Abbott last week said the search area would be limited to the known flight path of the airplane.

Mr Truss said as part of the expanded search, an extensive oceanographic study would need to be undertaken to help find out where the aircraft may have come to rest.
