THE grieving parents of crash victims Calvin Zhou and Grace Cai have visited the Ruthven St site of their children's deaths.

It has been an emotional trip to Toowoomba for the Chinese nationals who on Wednesday formally identified the bodies of the newlywed couple killed in an Australia Day crash at the intersection of Alderley St.

A University of Southern Queensland spokesman, who has been helping the parents around Toowoomba, said the group also went to the Sunshine Kebabs store which their children were in the process of buying.

"They are still very, very distressed," the spokesman said.

A translator has also been helping the parents, who do not speak English.

Plans are being made to hold the funeral for the couple in Toowoomba next week.

Meanwhile, the man accused of causing their deaths is due to have his matters heard in Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.

Ricky Shane Prins, 29, is charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance while excessively speeding and one count of unlicensed driving.

Prins has been in Toowoomba Hospital recovering from injuries sustained in the crash.
