Car ploughs into local motel

A LOCAL motel almost became a drive-through yesterday morning, after a motorist mounted the kerb, drove through the garden and smashed into a carport.

A motel guest said he heard a bang at around 9am and came out of his room to find the Holden Rodeo smashed into the carport, the wheels spinning back and forward while wedged on a large rock.

The occupants, a male driver and three children, were uninjured.

The man was driving along Hervey Road into Chapman Drive when he crossed the traffic island onto the opposite side of the road and mounted the footpath.

The Rodeo came to rest on the rock, which had been dragged underneath the car from the garden bed and was supporting the carport roof in front of room 18.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

In another accident yesterday, an elderly woman was treated for shock after two vehicles collided at the Philip Street roundabout near McDonald's in Kin Kora.

The accident happened about 11.15am between a Holden Commodore and Toyota Camry wagon.
