Woman, 92, dies after being hit by a car

UPDATE: POLICE have confirmed that a 92-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car at Goonellabah yesterday.

Just before 12.10pm on Monday, a 92-year-old woman (previously reported as being 80-years-old) got off a bus on Cambridge Drive, and started to cross the road, police have said.

At the same time, a Subaru Outback station wagon was travelling west along the same road, when the woman and car collided.

Ambulance Paramedics assisted the woman at the scene and she was taken to Lismore Hospital; however, she died a short time later.

The 40-year-old female driver of the Subaru was uninjured and taken to Lismore Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol and Richmond Local Area Command attended, and investigations into the circumstances continue.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

 

INITIAL REPORT: AN 80-year-old woman is in a serious but stable condition after being hit be a vehicle on the intersection of Cambridge Dr and Regency Crescent in Goonellabah.

A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said they received reports at about 12.10pm to reports of a collision between a vehicle and an 80-year-old female.

The spokesperson said the woman suffered injuries to her head and legs and was transported to the Lismore Base Hospital by ambulance.

NSW police media said the driver of the vehicle has been taken for blood and urine tests.

It's understood police are still on the scene.
