$7500 raised to help sister pay for brother's funeral
HENRY Collins will be best remembered as a cheeky boy who could make anyone laugh, and now his big sister Alberta can make sure he's farewelled properly.
The former Toowoomba woman has been overwhelmed by the support for her late brother, who died in Roma on Friday last week at just 21.
With no way to pay for his funeral costs, Ms Collins said she turned to a GoFundMe campaign for help and was shocked to see it raise nearly $7500 in just two days.
"I'm his next of kin, because we got put into foster care since my mum passed away when we were young," she said.
"I put it up on Monday at 3.30pm, and within the first half an hour we'd already received $1400.
"We've received so much support from people away from the GoFundMe campaign.
"The support that we've received is so overwhelming."
Ms Collins said her brother, who went to school in Toowoomba, was well-loved by everyone he knew during his life.
"He was very cheeky and entertaining.
"He could make anyone smile," she said.
"He was known as the class clown.
"He did a lot of sports and was involved in the soccer community in Toowoomba.
"He was a bit of a gypsy, because he lived in a lot of places, which is why we have received support from all over the place."
Henry Collins' funeral will be held in Cherbourg on March 23.
