Vow to kill his ex-girlfriend earns man $750 fine

A HERVEY Bay father was fined just $750 after threatening to beat and kill his former partner during a drunken rant.

The man, who has not been named in order to protect is ex-partner, pleaded guilty in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court to breaching a domestic violence order.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Jeanette Grigoris said the man located his ex-partner on February 4 and said he wanted to come fight her.

She said the man told his ex-partner he was around the corner and he would "kill" her.

"He said 'I will get my sister to come bash you'," Sgt Grigoris said.

She said at the time the man was too intoxicated for police to interview him.

Defence lawyer Trinity McGarvie said the man was very intoxicated at the time.

"There was no intention to carry through with the threats," she said.

Magistrate Graeme Tatnell fined the man $750.

Mr Tatnell told the man he was better off staying away from alcohol.
