55 criminal charges for alleged drug syndicate trio

TWO Gold Coast men and a woman allegedly part of a local drug syndicate were charged with 55 criminal offences following a Crime and Corruption Commission crackdown.

The trio was charged following Operation Altana targeting an organised crime syndicate allegedly involved in the production, supply and trafficking of crystal methamphetamine and cocaine on the Gold Coast.

The two men and woman will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court charged with 55 criminal offences next week.

A 43-year-old Surfers Paradise woman was charged with five counts of supplying a dangerous drug, one count of possession of a dangerous drug and two counts of possessing proceeds of a crime.

A 53-year-old Helensvale man was charged with one count of trafficking a dangerous drug, 26 counts of possession of a dangerous drug, five counts of supply of a dangerous drug, two counts of possession of a restricted drug and five counts of possessing proceeds of a crime.

A 24 year-old Burleigh Waters man was charged with one count of trafficking a dangerous drug, four counts of supplying a dangerous drug and three counts of possessing proceeds of a crime

All three alleged offenders have not previously been charged by the CCC and are expected to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on 17 August 2017.

The CCC made similar arrests in earlier this year relating to an alleged drug production site in Main Beach where ice was allegedly cut, recrystallised, and then packaged for distribution.
