Riding 3671km for prostate cancer
FOR most people, riding around town is hard enough let alone riding a total of 3671km.
But for Richard Ridings and the rest of the motorcyclists participating in the 2010 Long Ride for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, every kilometre will be for a good cause.
Mr Ridings and some of the Long Ride team were in Gladstone on Saturday as part of a pre-ride promotional tour to raise money and awareness for the ride.
“The Long Ride is a ride you should try to do even if just for yourself if not for others,” he said.
They were also offering pillion ride on their bikes to the locals.
Kids from around the area took time out from playing with their toy bikes and had a great time riding the impressive touring bikes.
Mr Ridings said he was looking forward to kicking off the ride to Darwin which leaves Brisbane on May 1.
“This is the real thing – life on the road – without the dangers that follow a solo rider. Anyone can ride a bike, but this is a chance to make a difference in your life and in others,” he said.
Riders are expected to arrive in Darwin on May 8.
