Times Gone By: Mannequin parade a sight to see at fair

1971: At the Gladstone State High School's winter fair a mannequin parade kept patrons entertained.

Mannequins who showed the fashion to advantage were: June Cuff, Lynn Curtis, Jane Thornton, Muriel Irwin, Virginia Berry, Sandra Onions, Alison Grimes and Denise Kelly.

Advertisement: Swinger Gladstone Entertainment - Jet Lounge, Queens Hotel on Thursday, with his No. 1 hit record "Old Man Emu", John Williamson.

Note: Patrons are advised to arrive early as the demand to see this entertainer will be heavy.

Patrons not suitably attired will be refused admission.

Gladstone's Sportsman of the Year for 1970-71 is Brian Fitzsimmons.

The award was announced at a special Sports Star of the Year Cabaret in the Jet Lounge of the Queens Hotel.

At the Annual Meeting of the Gladstone Municipal Band on Thursday, the treasurer, Rev DK Dunn was presented with a gold life membership badge in recognition of his services over the years.
