ABOUT 250 schoolies shocked beachgoers and diners at Noosa Heads yesterday when they performed a flash mob dance.

SU QLD program developer Andrew Beavers said the former students, spending their Schoolies Week on the Sunshine Coast, had not originally planned on turning the dance they learned on Monday into a flash mob.

"It was a huge success. Everyone loved it," Mr Beavers said.

The schoolies took over the food court at 12.30pm and Noosa Beach two hours later.

They jumped up and started dancing as soon as the music started playing.

The song was 'Interlude' from the album Someday Came Suddenly, by American metalcore band Attack Attack!
