Speed a factor in Little Mountain motorcycle fatality
RESIDENTS in a quiet suburban street at Little Mountain have told how they woke to an almighty crash early this morning.
What they found when they stepped outside their homes was horrific.
A 24-year-old man died instantly when the motorcycle he was riding crashed into the back of a two-tonne ute at Casuarina Drive, Little Mountain at 2.55am.
Forensic Crash Unit officers say they are looking at speed as the likely contributing factor.
The force of the impact disintegrated the man's bike into pieces.
The police investigations match with witness reports. Residents say they could hear a bike "tearing down their street", before a loud crash.
The man died at the scene and could not be revived.
POLICE are investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred early this morning on the Sunshine Coast.
Police were called to Casuarina Drive at Little Mountain around 2.55am following reports that a motorcycle had struck a ute that was parked on the side of the road.
A 24-year-old Nundah man was located deceased at the scene.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
