12yo boy in hospital after tackle during rugby league match

UPDATE 12:15pm:

Gladstone Ambulance officer in charge Lei Spencer said paramedics had been called to the junior rugby league tournament twice today.

"We've only had the two at the moment for wrist injuries," she said.

"It's a big tournament so we might go again. I'm always waiting."

The two under 12's were taken to the Gladstone Hospital. 

UPDATE 11:30am:

A representative from the Jason Hetherington Cup event has told The Observer the child is not from Gladstone.

The tournament hosts young rugby league players from around Australia.

He has a suspected fracture. 

Earlier:

A 12 year old boy has been taken to the Gladstone Hospital after being tackled during a football match at Harvey Rd.

He is in a stable condition with minor injuries.

Today was the start of the Jason Hetherington Cup under 12 games at the Gladstone Junior Rugby League Fields.
