This is a challenging and rewarding role, involving the coverage of local news and events for our community-based publication, and the production of high-quality, relevant and accurate stories for both print and online.
Weekend and after hours work will be required.
The successful applicant will have a nose for a good story, be able to build trusted relationships within the community, be passionate about journalism and willing to learn and grow on the job.
We are looking for a team player with excellent writing and interviewing technique as well as the ability to take a good photograph.
You will be expected to help drive online engagement, learn digital production skills and work quickly to meet multiple daily deadlines.
Gladstone lies on one of the largest and most beautiful harbours in Australia. It is an important industrial and shipping hub with a growing tourism focus.
The region is the gateway to the southern Great Barrier Reef with easy access to many islands including Heron and Lady Musgrave islands from nearby Town of 1770.
