Buddhist monk Jinasiri treks his way along the Bruce Hwy on his way to Gladstone.
AT MIDDAY yesterday, the walking monk could be found fighting the sweltering heat on the Bruce Hwy making his way to Gladstone.
Jinasiri, born as Jason, has travelled 584km on his bare feet over the past six months averaging 20km a day, 40km if the weather is good.
"The heat is fine," Jason said.
"The road surface tends to get me."
Carrying nothing but the clothes he is wearing and a water bottle, the walking monk relies on human kindness for food and shelter and he has encountered a lot.
"It's a pretty amazing thing," he said.
Locally he has found help from Dave Halloran from Bororen, who took him in for the night.
