Eagles women fly high

IT was another successful weekend of football for Gladstone with the Wolves football club hosting Gladstone United and the Emerald Eagles.

IT was another successful weekend of football for Gladstone with the Wolves football club hosting Gladstone United and the Emerald Eagles.

The division 2 Wolves women's side went down to the Eagles 5-2.

While the United Division 1 women side went down 5-1.

"Emerald had a very strong side in all divisions and there was some great play," Wolves president Brian Niven said.

The Wolves men's premier league side, however, managed to defeat the Eagles 2-1.

"I honestly thought that Emerald would be very hard to beat," Niven said.

"This was our first game where as they had played a few in lead up.

"At half-time I went and spoke to the Emerald bench they were very impressed with our game. At the end of the match they congratulated us on having a strong, quality team."
