IT was another successful weekend of football for Gladstone with the Wolves football club hosting Gladstone United and the Emerald Eagles.
The division 2 Wolves women's side went down to the Eagles 5-2.
While the United Division 1 women side went down 5-1.
"Emerald had a very strong side in all divisions and there was some great play," Wolves president Brian Niven said.
The Wolves men's premier league side, however, managed to defeat the Eagles 2-1.
"I honestly thought that Emerald would be very hard to beat," Niven said.
"This was our first game where as they had played a few in lead up.
"At half-time I went and spoke to the Emerald bench they were very impressed with our game. At the end of the match they congratulated us on having a strong, quality team."
