GLADSTONE'S Senior Sportsperson of the Year

Lewis Marshall proved why he was awarded the accolade this Australia Day when he competed in the Queensland

Masters Track Titles in Rockhampton.

Although the weather was not ideal Marshall took the time on the track and used it wisely.

He won the team sprint with Russell Tucker and Arch Davis breaking the state record time as well as nabbing a few more silvers.

"The crowd was not as big as normal due to the weather and not all events were run with the rain delaying events," he said.

"But for me the weekend was more of a practice for the Australian Tittles later in the month in Sydney.

"It's good to get time on the track."

Lewis is looking forward to travelling to Sydney for the titles which will be held from February 22-26. "I am looking forward to getting to Sydney. I still have a bit of preparation to do," he said.

"But it is a good event with a very high calibre of cycling."
