Claws hold heads high

THE scoreboard may have read 45-44 in Suncoast’s favour at full time, but the Claws certainly played their best game all season in the elimination finals in Brisbane on Saturday.

It was a tough match between the two teams whose last game finished similarly with only one goal between them, Suncoast coming out on top in both cases.

For most of the game there were four goals between them and in the final minute the Claws came back to close the gap, but this did not come soon enough.

Although the outcome was not the desired one, captain Carmen Anderson was very happy with her team’s performance.

"We played very well. This was by far the best game of the entire season for us," Anderson said.

"Everyone put in 100% and the loss was not negative as we didn’t leave the competition without putting it all out there."

Although the entire Claws team was praised for their efforts, the standout was Poppy Larson.

"She is a great player. I think there were a lot of people in awe of her performance," Anderson said. "She plays with such grace, confidence and strength that you would never know how young she was."
