SHE'S quickly becoming Gladstone bodybuilding royalty and the house of winsor has another trophy added to a growing body of work.
Casey Winsor’s performance in her first crack at a Australian Natural Bodybuilder’s competition was the completion of a goal set last year.
Reduced to tears, the usually composed Winsor couldn’t help be emotional after winning the Figure Tall category at the 2011 Powerzone Nutrition ANB Asia Pacific International Championships.
The wait was a nervous one on stage and the tension built as the top five competitors were called out from five to one. So each time she didn’t hear her name called, the anxiety rose.
Winsor had nailed her routine and was confident in her body shape, sculpted from six-months' exercise and training and meals consisting largely of egg whites, oats, chicken and vegetables.
Finally the announcement came and she couldn’t remain composed, having been voted number one in her category at a world class event.
"It was extremely overwhelming," she said.
Her partner and friends in the crowd were ecstatic when her name was announced and she stood in the spotlight before a cheering audience, her dream now a reality.
Winsor had settled on entering the novice category before the competition, but decided to move up into the Figure Tall class.
On the day of the competition, not even a stumble and fall in skyscraper high heels before going on stage for her 15-minute routine could throw her off course.
"I felt awesome and was just trying to remember everything I’d practiced for my routine," she said.
Her focus was such she has no idea what her fellow bodybuilders, eight in all, looked like or how their routines unfolded.
For Winsor, the entire aim of the exercise had been about competing with herself and trying to get the absolute best out of her body, mind and spirit.
Having endured a rigorous training regimen and diet, the bodybuilder felt a sense of relief all the effort and sacrifice had paid dividends.
"Knowing all the hard work was worth it was the most pleasing thing," she said.
"I’m a lot leaner, more defined and more balanced than I was," she said.
There was little rest for Winsor who hit the gym as soon as she returned to Gladstone and is now preparing for the all Female Classic in Melbourne next month; an event she won last year and is every chance to win again.
