Gymnasts are all smiles about the new beam area constructed courtesy of a Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
GLADSTONE Gymnastic Club members were excited to start holiday training this week and take the opportunity to try out the new beam area.
Gladstone Gymnastic Club head coach David Capill is thrilled with the addition of the new beam area, which comes courtesy of a grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
“The club has grown extensively over the last 12 months and our numbers are very exciting,” he said.
“By improving the layout and number of apparatus in the gym we have effectively increased the number of children that can train at once.”
Even more importantly, with the summer heat beating down on us and skin cancer rates at an all-time high in Queensland, it is with some relief that children can participate in a sport under cover and out of the sun.
The Gladstone Gymnastic Club sign-on is on tomorrow and the club is gearing up for an extremely busy 2011 with a number of new classes being introduced.
“The club has been around for over 33 years, servicing the local community and we are conscious of what the community needs and have the means, the facility and the desire to provide it,'' founding organiser Anna Turetschek said.
Classes are available for children aged one and up and the club would love to see children and parents alike at its annual sign-on day tomorrow.
The sign-on is being held from 9am to 12pm for kindergym, general gym, competitive, adults and acrobatic gymnastics at the PCYC Multifunction Building, Yarroon Street.
