THE golden arches of McDonald’s could rise in Tannum Sands.

A development application for a multi-million-dollar McDonald’s Family Restaurant has been lodged with Gladstone Regional Council and is open for public comment.

Handling the application is local planning consultancy firm LG Planning Services.

“McDonald’s is currently working with Gladstone Regional Council in the community consultation phase of a Development Application (DA) for the establishment of a new McDonald’s family restaurant,” McDonald’s spokeswoman Amy McNaughton said.

“The proposed site at 68 Hampton Drive is opposite a retail area and McDonald’s has gained letters of support from the neighbours on this development.

“McDonald’s will work with council to ensure the development is well-suited to the local area.

“If approved by council, the proposed restaurant will incorporate a drive-thru and playland and herald up to 70 new jobs.”

Ms McNaughton said McDonald’s would be looking for staff to work in all areas of the restaurant – from crew members to trainers and managers.
