GLADSTONE folk opened their hearts and their homes yesterday by adopting six orphaned dogs at the RSPCA monthly dog adoption day.
The fourth adoption day was held by the Friends of RSPCA Gladstone, following on from the success of last Sunday’s cat adoption day, from which 14 cats and kittens found new homes.
“Six of our lovely animals were adopted and another three look like going by the end of the week,” Friends of RSPCA Gladstone publicity officer Judy Whicker said.
“We had a great day with a lot of interest, so I’m sure we will get a couple of adoptions from the showings.
“We still have another 20 dogs that need to be adopted,” she said.
The local group opens its doors to the Adoption Centre opposite NRG Power Station as part of their monthly dog adoption day.
It was held from 9am till noon, and many took up the opportunity to visit the centre and interact with the many cute and cuddly puppies and dogs in need of new homes.
All dogs come de-sexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and registered with the Gladstone Regional Council. Prices vary from about $200 to $250 and it is a great feeling knowing you are giving a loving animal a second chance.
“All of these beautiful animals need new homes ... loving families is what they need,” Ms Whicker said.
Those who missed out can log on to www.adopta pet.com.au to find out how to adopt a dog and to view your waiting-to-be-adopted future K9.
