Stephanie Manitzky.
WINTER term break was no holiday for Whitney Dew and Stephanie Manitzky as they competed against Queensland’s top gymnasts at the 2010 State Championships.
Dedication, determination, courage and commitment shown by the young ladies to the 14 – 16 hours of training each week saw Whitney and Stephanie qualify for and attend the Queensland State Gymnastic Championships. After competing in individual events Whitney then went on to compete with the top six gymnasts for Central Queensland in the state-wide regional team challenge for Level 5.
Whitney Dew competed in the WG Level 5 Open division against 50 other competitors. Her best apparatus placing on the day came on the floor where she scored a 13.2.
Competition was tough and these young gymnasts gave their all as they competed against the best in Queensland, both achieving personal goals.
Stephanie Manitzky competed in the WG Level 4 Open division against 112 competitors. Stephanie’s best performance was on the Uneven Bars where she scored a 13.2 as well. Unfortunately due to a knee injury Lauren Gibson was unable to compete in her event at WG Level 6 Open group.
State Championships only give a placing of 1-6, neither one of these gymnasts achieved a medal or ribbon, but these champions in their own right should be very proud of their efforts competing against so many other gymnasts. We are. Congratulations girls.
