A GROUP of dedicated martial artists from the Enabling Arts Dojo made their mark at the Australian Martial Arts Championships in Brisbane on Sunday.

Marty Stuart, Tomas Williams, Nathan Tansky, Beau Budak, Shaun Booth and Samantha Smith won an impressive 15 trophies between them.

The victories were achieved across a range of age and tournament divisions, including weapons kata, forms and full contact fighting.

Team coach Peter Reilly said it was an amazing performance from a group of dedicated students of Zen Chi Ryu.

“I’m very proud of them all,” Reilly said.

“In this year alone they have won over 26 trophies. I’m sure that the second half of the year will be just as fruitful, given the family culture of our dojo and the hard work they all do, training and practising to represent Gladstone in these events.”

The students all study Zen Chi Ryu martial arts and compete regularly at tournaments throughout Australia. They will be travelling to Brisbane and Sydney to compete in state and national championships later this year.
