CLINTON Lewis decides to hitch a ride but unfortunately for Curtis West it happens to be on his head and back in the Junior National Lights at Gladstone Kart Track.
GLADSTONE go karters are set to hit the track at full speed when the green light shines on the first weekend in April.
The two-track challenge is a highlight of the kart-racing calendar and is to be held on April 3 and 4.
Round one on Saturday will be held at Rockhampton with the second round at Gladstone on Sunday.
Gladstone Kart Club spokesman Darren Derboben said the event was designed so competitors had to compete on both days, and it featured a terrific day of racing.
“We’ll have the midgets up to the old boys racing,” he said.
“It will be a weekend of good, close racing.”
Derboben said that with two rounds of the inaugural Supercheap Auto series at Rockhampton and Gladstone the race day would be a good opportunity to test the tracks ahead of the series.
“It’s a good opportunity for trial running and tuning the cars,” he said. The Supercheap Auto series will feature karters from throughout Queensland. Gates open for the two-track challenges from 6am on April 3.
