End of a dream for Jessica Parfrey

A SMALL country-town girl grew up dreaming of one day enforcing the law.

However, her career spanned only five months, kilometres from her home town.

Jessica Parfrey, 21, was devastated on Thursday when she lost her appeal against the NSW Police Force’s decision to dismiss her.

Ms Parfrey’s father, Shayne, flew to Gladstone last night.

“I’ve flown to Gladstone to support Jess through the outcome of this case,” he told The Observer.

“I support her 100 per cent.

“It was her lifelong dream to become a cop.

“It’s not in her nature to conduct herself in the manner of the allegations.”

Ms Parfrey spent 13 years of her childhood growing up in Medowie, a small country town about 34km north of Newcastle, not far from the RAAF Base at Williamstown.

It was a small rural town that boomed in the 1980s and now has a population of about 8000.

The town has two public primary schools as well as a Christian school, but Ms Parfrey had to travel an hour to get to high school.

She grew up there with her mother, Jodie, who is an ambulance officer, and father, Shayne.

Ms Parfrey has a 19-year-old brother who has been very supportive throughout the past few years.
