ART will come alive tomorrow at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery, taking part in a statewide exhibition.
The gallery is welcoming kids and families alike to take part in the Kids’ APT event on Saturday.
Gladstone Regional Council art and heritage officer Trish Howard said the day would include free art and craft activities designed by artists from across the Asia Pacific region.
“Two levels of the gallery and museum will be filled with arts activities, offering a fantastic opportunity for families to roll their sleeves up and get creative, while having a lot of fun together,” she said.
Ms Howard said seven activities included creating paper models of fruits, sticker collages, portraits from cut-outs, and collaborative displays that transform as each participant adds their contribution.
Bound to be popular with both kids and adults is the In-Flight 2009.
Designed by Filipino artists Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan, participants design their own aircraft using recycled materials.
Ms Howard said kids and their families are welcome to stay as long or as short as they like.
Cassie Paddick, 14, who attended the Kids’ APT exhibition in Brisbane last year, said the day was great for both kids and their parents.
“It’s good for the kids, it gives them something to do. They also learn about art from a young age and have fun while doing it,” Cassie said.
The APT event is free and will be held from 10.30am to 2.30pm at the Gladstone Art Gallery.
