Bororen Community Water Action Group spokeswoman Selena Buckley spoke to The Observer earlier this year, saying Bororen’s water might be making her grandson Luka Randles sick.
GLADSTONE Regional Council (GRC) has failed to complete water-testing in Bororen despite promising to have all results in by the end of November.
Bororen Community Water Action Group (BCWAG) spokeswoman Selena Buckley yesterday told The Observer the community felt let down by GRC.
“Basically, we have been left hung out to dry by the council,” Ms Buckley said.
“They said they’d have answers to us by the end of the month and we’ve heard nothing.”
But Councillor Matt Burnett yesterday afternoon told 100 letters explaining council’s position were on their way to the town’s post office.
Cr Burnett conceded that the testing had not been completed, but wanted to make sure it was done properly.
“The issue has existed for years... and I know the residents want answers yesterday, but we want to do it right,” he said.
Cr Burnett said preliminary results showed there was nothing harmful in the water and there was enough water to consider a treatment plant.
Mrs Buckley told The Observer the town’s supply had become murky brown again.
“I couldn’t shower when I got home from work Saturday night because the water was so filthy,” she said.
The Bororen resident said BCWAG will fight until the issue is resolved. The letter yesterday sent to Bororen residents can be read here.
