Bros and Sistas – Mo to the Max
HAIR-RAISING: The men at Re/Max Gold are calling on you to support Movember.
SHANE McLeod from Re/Max Gold’s MoMax Bros is calling on Gladstone’s blokes to grow a mo (or moustache to the uninitiated) and help raise much-needed funds and awareness for men’s health.
The Movember phenomenon has swept the month of November for the past six years worldwide, highlighting two major issues for men – prostate cancer and depression.
Mo Bros, supported by their Mo Sistas, start Movember (November 1) clean-shaven and then have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their moustache.
During Movember, each Mo Bro effectively becomes a walking billboard for men’s health and, via their Mo, raises essential funds and awareness for Movember’s men’s health partners – The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue – the national depression initiative.
At the end of Movember, a series of gala parties are held to thank Mo Bros and Sistas for their support and fund-raising efforts.
About 3000 men die of prostate cancer each year in Australia and one in eight men will experience depression; many do not seek help.
In their second year, MoMax Bros have set a goal of $5000 and are looking to recruit as many locals to either join their team or make a donation.
