Matt Jenkins and M1 cycling crew put their rides online.
M1 CYCLES have put themselves on the map.
Gladstone residents can regularly see cyclists doing pack rides around the local area but thanks to www.bunchridefinder.com.au now the whole world can see the tracks our road racers complete.
The website incorporates not only our local rides but rides from a series of countries.
Launched in Australia, the site predominantly features rides from around our nation but does branch out all over the globe.
M1 Cycles owner Matt Jenkin said the site would help newcomers to the Gladstone area get a feel for the type of rides available to cyclists.
“It will help roadies that come to Gladstone find a ride,” Jenkin said.
People who are interested in the regular bunch rides that local cyclists complete can jump online and “bang there they are.”
Online for a week, M1 riders are already getting contacted with regards to the rides and it's only going to continue growing as more groups add to the website.
“It will be a one-stop shop for cyclists eventually,” he said.
A more-than-experienced rider himself, Jenkin not only joins in the training runs but trains “roadies” in the etiquette of pack cycling and how to take advantage of having other riders around.
“What I've done since I came to the town six years ago is teach people how to ride a bike properly - like a pro - in a pack,” he said.
“There's an etiquette when cycling in packs, it's like a chess game, different pieces can move different ways.
“I never teach them to ride fast ... fast comes (when you know how to hold yourself in a pack).”
