Tortoise escapes circus...slowly

A MASSIVE tortoise in the US which escaped a circus and took his show on the road for six days has been found.

The 152kg male tortoise named Berta didn't make it very far.

He had travelled just 3.2km when he was spotted on a golf course less than a week after his July 7 escape during a show in Madison, Wisconsin.

Alain Zerbini, owner and producer of Florida-based Zerbini Family Circus, says he expects to have Berta back in a few days. A friend of Zerbini picked up Berta from the Humane Society in Madison on Friday.

Zerbini says the tortoise has been "part of the family" for 10 years.
