Weekend full of laughter

Comedy meltdown

Tonight at 7.30pm well-known comedian Andrew Nason will present three hilarious stand-up comics at the Gladstone Entertainment Centre. The line up includes Chris Franklin, who has appeared on The Footy Show, Mike van Acker and Mark McConville. This Comedy Meltdown series will be run in the comedy club genre, with the audience seated at tables with food and drink available for purchase throughout the show. Tickets range from $21.50 to $27.50 and can be purchased at the box office.

Wide Bay air show

The air show will be held at the Bundaberg Airport from today until Sunday. The show includes rare, fast jets, biplanes, vintage, sport, ultra light and general aviation aircraft and supporting industries. Gates open at 8.30am and close at 4.30pm. Tickets range from $15 to $30.

Peter Powers

Star of 50 TV shows, the famous hypnotist continues to shock, amaze and thrill audiences with his hilarious live stage show tomorrow night at the Gladstone Entertainment Centre at 8pm. The theatre show promises to be much funnier than anything seen on TV. Peter is set to tour Australia during 2009 with a fantastic new show full of surprises and is a must see show which promises to be an unbelievably outrageous and wild experience. Dare to be hypnotised? If not, come along and split your sides with laughter at those who do. Tickets range from $36.50 to $39.50.

Hotrod show

The Reef City Hotrod show will be held tomorrow at the Calliope Historical Village. There will be American, muscle and classic cars, amongst others, on display from 1-5pm. Adults $5, kids under 12 free. Food, bar and music. Inquires call Damian on 0409615900 or Gavin on 0439780966.

Movie night

Harry Potter look-alikes will join legions of Dobbys, Weasleys and Hagrids for the return of the popular Moonlight Movies at Tannum beach tomorrow night. Boyne Tannum Arts, Business and Community Association (BTABC) will screen Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at 6pm on the grassy area beside the surf club. A sausage sizzle and hot soup will be available. All children who dress as their favourite Harry Potter character will go into the draw for a prize and there will also be a prize for best dressed and a lucky-door prize. Patrons should wear warm clothes and bring their own chairs and blankets to sit on. So grab your cloak and broom and head to the Esplanade on Saturday night. Entry is free.

Local sport

• Basketball: The Port City Power take on Maroochydore Clippers tomorrow night at Kev Broom “Power house” stadium.

• Union: GRUFs play Frenchville on Saturday afternoon, starting at 2pm.

• League: Tannum vs Biloela at Dennis Park, Boyne Island from 4pm tomorrow. On Sunday, Brothers vs Yeppoon at Gladstone Junior Grounds from noon. Hot food, cold drinks and bar available.

Rockstar camp

Head out to Cedar Galleries on Sunday to experience the renowned Rock Star Boot Camp event. With an average of 10 acts each boot camp, each varying in genre from blues to jazz to alternate and rock, visitors can be assured a great night of music entertainment. Cover charge for the event is $12 per adult and $5 for kids under 12, which includes free dinner. Boot camp kicks off at 3pm and finishes around 8.30pm.

• Young Australian: Timmy Anderson is playing Saturday night.

• Dicey's: Band Smiles play tonight and tomorrow night from 8pm until late.

Rodeo Open Day

Calliope Rodeo Association will be holding a practice day tomorrow from noon. Bar and canteen available. Cost is $50 to ride all the bulls you want. Gold coin entry. Contact Terry Gildea on 0409646273.
