Dog enthusiast Carol Mills puts her dog Brodie through his paces, as Hugo watches on.
SATURDAY'S canine obedience trial, to be hosted by the Gladstone Dog Obedience Club, is a must see for animal lovers.
Although not the most well known of sports, the trial will involve dogs competing in a variety of show and trial events.
Secretary of the Gladstone Dog Obedience Club Cara Hodgson said she was hoping for a strong turn out.
She said cold weather had played a role in crowd numbers for the event in previous years.
Hodgson believes the highlight of the evening will be the Utility Class and the high level of performance dogs and owners will present.
“It's beautiful to see dogs and their owners working together and relating to one another,” she said.
“Being volunteers, it's rewarding for us to see the end results of the obedience training.”
As well as the wide variety of breeds and skills, a canteen will also be running on the night.
Carol Mills, who has been involved with dog obedience for 25 years, said obedience brought out the best in the dogs.
“It's amazing to see what you can teach a dog,” she said. “They're part of the family and it's all about getting the best out of man's best friend.”
The canine obedience trial will be held on Saturday from 6.30pm at the club's Morgan Street venue.
Dog obedience classes are run on Monday and Saturday nights.
