IT WAS three wins in three matches for the Gladstone Capricornia Football League sides last weekend, as Central picked up their first win since round one.

It may not have been the prettiest of victories, but Central were able to eke out a convincing victory in an unconventional match.

Playing in front of a vocal home crowd, Central lead 2-1 at half-time thanks to goals from Brendan Schluter and Nathan Tansky.

Central extended their lead to four after the break with goals from Adrian Ahwang, Chris Clarke and an own goal.

After this, the match started to change with a sending-off and some questionable injuries leaving the Rockhampton side with six men and the referee no choice but to abandon the match.

Central coach Aaron Jeffery said despite what went on during the game, the result was good and was an “icebreaker.”

“It was a just reward for close games over the past few weeks,” he said.

In the other locally held fixture, Clinton continued their dominance in the league with a 6-1 win over Rockhampton side Nerimbera.

Coach Derek Horton praised standouts Nick Barker, Ryan Bellert and Chris Thomson, but said the result was a team effort.

He said the result left them confident for next week.

“We're confident going into the game against Frenchville, but not over-confident, we're playing well.”

In Rockhampton, Wolves resumed their dream run of late, coming from behind to beat Frenchville 3-2.

Down 2-1 with 14 minutes to go, goals from Dave Mitchell and Phil Baker gave the Gladstone side their fifth straight win.

Wolves coach Gordon Simpson said the side played a disappointing first half, going down early to a defensive mistake, but played much better after a half-time team talk.
