AUSTRALIAN Manufacturing Workers Union members took to the street yesterday calling for better pay and working conditions for Monadelphous workers.

About 50 people took part in protests at the roundabout near Boyne Smelters and outside the Monadelphous workshop on the Gladstone-Benaraby Rd.

The protests were in response to an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement released by Monadelphous that will be voted on next Friday.

AMWU state organiser Phil Golby said the union considered some of the terms and conditions within the document were substantially inferior.

The Observer sought comment from the company but received no response.
