Woman drank two cartons then drove

A BANANA woman who was delivering her husband's lunch when she was caught drink driving and on a disqualified licence has been fined $2000 and disqualified from driving for two and a half years.

Louise Powell pleaded guilty to one count of drink driving and two counts of driving with a disqualified licence in a Biloela court.

A police prosecutor told the court Mrs Powell drank two cartons of XXXX beer in the 14 hours before being pulled over on Herbert St at 11.30am on July 22.

A defence lawyer told the court Mrs Powell was delivering her husband's lunch to work because he had forgotten to take it.

Her blood alcohol content was 0.105%.

Mrs Powell's licence had been suspended by a court in September last year.

She was caught driving with the same disqualified licence again on July 31 when "a friend coaxed her to drive into Biloela".

"I would have considered a prison sentence, but for your circumstances," Magistrate Hay said.

"Anyone who asks you to drive is doing so in circumstances in which they are being selfish.

"If anyone needs any greater reason why you can't drive, remind them of the fine and that next time there won't be a fine, you will go to prison."

A conviction was recorded.
