Vintage theme at rugby league club race day

GET the VIP treatment on Saturday by experiencing the glamour of the races with the Past Brother's Junior Rugby League Football Club.

The club is holding a vintage-themed event at Gladstone Turf Club.

Ticket holders get a two-course meal and free drink on arrival, a chance at a lucky door prize and raffles.

Sponsorship and fundraising co-ordinator Rebecca Long said the proceeds would help upgrade the club's facilities and hopefully allow them to host home games.

"Funds raised from the Race Day will assist in upgrading our safety fencing, new shade structures, grounds maintenance and further training equipment such as footballs, tackling pads and goal posts for our teams," Ms Long said.

"Past Brothers Junior Rugby League Football Club is a not-for-profit sporting organisation, run entirely on a voluntary basis depending jointly on the fundraising efforts within the club as well as sponsorship from businesses in the Gladstone area."

Past Brother's marketing manager Raymond Hill will be the master of ceremonies for the event and is expecting to see some stunning outfits take out the prizes for the best dressed couple, female and male awards.

"We're just trying to encourage the community to buy tickets now," he said.

Tickets are $75 at the Blain Park clubhouse in Gladstone, 4.30-6pm on Thursday.
