CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Coward punch on man dressed in blonde wig

UPDATE 5.30:

The Observer has obtained footage showing Hayden Baynton delivering the coward punch that felled a man at MIePLACE nightclub.

In the footage, the blonde wigged man's head flew back and he fell to the ground after Baynton delivers a blow.

It then appears that Baynton jumps on top of the victim.

In other footage, security escort Baynton out of the nightclub.

A COWARDS punch thrown by a drunk Hayden Baynton struck so hard that it sent a man's long blonde wig flying off his head inside MIePLACE nightclub.

The man, in fancy dress, suffered facial injuries and a broken ankle when he was felled to the floor at the bar beside the dance floor.

Facing the consequences of his nasty one punch attack, Baynton was sentenced to six months jail by Gladstone magistrate Penelope Hay after the 19-year-old pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm to the man on June 28 last year.

The court heard that older men who Baynton had worked with on Curtis Island were partly blamed for leading the teenager into a drinking culture.

Ms Hay, after overnight consideration of all aspects of the case, ordered Baynton to be released immediately on supervised parole.

Baynton, a father of one, must not reoffend or he will be sent immediately to jail.

With his parents in the public gallery looking relieved at the decision, Baynton refused to comment on his nasty behaviour, or about what he thought of cowardly one punch assaults when he walked from the courthouse accompanied by partner Bianca Alexander and mates.

Police prosecuter Gavin Reece said the victim was at the bar in the club buying drinks and as he walked back to his table Bayton suddenly hit him with a closed fist which knocked him to the floor.

He received cuts and bruising around his left eye, nose and mouth, and a fractured ankle.

"There was no provocation and the victim said he had no recollection of the incident," Mr Reece said.
