GLADSTONE mum Della Tomlins is unstoppable.

Even though she's legally blind, today she will compete in a 10km run on the Gold Coast, as part of the Gold Coast Marathon.

Della suffers from a genetic condition called Usher Syndrome.

"My vision is about 10 degrees and I've had hearing problems since I was born."

But she said if she hadn't lost her sight, she might never have taken up running.

"Usher condition is slowly progressive and in 2008, I lost my ability to drive," she said.

"If I wasn't legally blind, I'd probably still be driving everywhere."

Della admits she's a little nervous about the run, particularly because of the large number of people, which might make navigating tricky.
