REEGAN Ward has always been a two-wheel guy.
Ever since he was young he has preferred motorbikes to cars, especially when he gets to get it off the road and go fast.
"I started at probably 12, with dirt bikes," he said.
"They say you need to go in a fast car, but I think they need to try bikes."
Five years ago Ward began driving on the track, Benaraby Raceway's drags.
Using the skills he had learnt over a number of years on the bike, Ward slowly began to grow accustomed to the different environment.
Now he has a 2008 Suzuki Hayabusa, the Gladstone driver is one of many drivers in the area who will compete in an all-bike meet at the track on August 16.
Having just increased his speed to 159mph (254kmh), Ward is as fast as he has ever been.
"It is on the back wheel for the first 60 or 70 feet," he said.
"At first it is eyes wide open but you get used to it over time."
Ward's Suzuki is going to be around for a long time too, having put a lot of time and effort into the two-wheeled machine.
Bought broken, he has made the bike what he wants and will be waiting until he finds something he might want more.
"It was bought as a crash wreck," he said.
