Two car crash closes highway
UPDATE 7am: The Dawson Highway has reopened after a two car crash that occurred earlier this morning.
A Queensland Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said residents could still expect significant traffic delays inbound and outbound from Gladstone.
6.30am: A two car crash has closed the Dawson Highway in both directions near Calliope this morning.
The accident took place approximately 3 kilometres from the Calliope Crossroads before 6.00am on the outbound section of road.
One person was trapped inside a vehicle, however a Queensland Fire and Rescue spokesperson said they had been released.
A police spokesperson said it appeared as though one of the vehicles was forced off the road during the incident.
Emergency service vehicles remain on the scene and motorists can expect significant delays this morning, in-bound and out-bound on the highway.
The road will remain closed until the accident scene has been cleared.
The occupants of the cars were taken to Gladstone Hospital however the extent of their injuries was unknown.
