Man threatens to eat his neighbours' dog

STICKING to chicken may have proven a wise move for Christopher Alan D'Arcy, who was fined in Gladstone Magistrates Court after a bizarre neighbourly exchange.

The court heard D'Arcy threatened to eat his Auckland St neighbours' dog, after going on a profanity-laden rant from 5pm on May 18.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Emma Bonnyman told the court D'Arcy had walked into his Auckland St unit block at about 5pm and began shouting, threatening to kill his neighbours, before making the threat to eat their canine companion.

A witness told police the rant had been going for over an hour.

Duty solicitor Sharon Kang said the situation had arisen out of an ongoing neighbourhood dispute, and D'Arcy had been drinking alcohol for some time before the incident.

D'Arcy entered a plea of guilty to one count of public nuisance.

Magistrate Mark Morrow told D'Arcy he'd been given more than enough chances, fining him $300 and recording a conviction against him.
