Screaming, urinating, vomiting - and that's a quiet night

WE had just parked the car and already found our first victim.

Upon first glance I didn't know whether they were male or female.

All I knew was they had had a big night, were highly intoxicated and in the process of passing out in the curb metres from Goondoon St.

This is considered a typical occurrence in Gladstone on a Friday or Saturday night.

And unfortunately, that was the first of many incidents myself and photographer Christopher Chan spotted.

Revellers stirring police, hoons screaming down Goondoon St in their hotted up cars and a litany of drunken mischief.

Most, if not all, the action is started by men. The women are usually trailing in a group of short skirts and platform heels.

Urinating, vomiting and passing out in the street seemed like the norm on what was deemed a quiet night by police.

One man was given a stern warning after trying to hi-five a police officer.

Others dodged authority altogether, with some taking illicit substances in clear view.

A quiet night:

11.42pm: Ambulance is called to the Reef to attend to an incident.
11.50pm: Man is seen passed out in the garden bed of an inner-city motel.
12.30am: Revellers stir police as they walk down Goondoon St.
1.40am: Visible drug-taking in Goondoon St.
1.48am: Ambulance called to Bojangles.
2.13am: Police arrest a man who is resisting arrest outside the Reef.
2.50am: Police intercept vehicle in Goondoon St, handcuff driver.
3.15am: Three men urinate on an inner-city motel.
4.55am: Police officer is attacked.
