Salvos ask for help
IT'S that time of year again when the call goes out for volunteers to join in the Salvation Army's Red Shield Appeal.
The newly appointed chairman of the Salvation Army Craig Butler is urging the Gladstone community to get involved.
"We are always looking for more doorknockers because the region is growing so quickly," he said.
"It's very important we raise some money to help support those who are in need in our community."
Mr Butler said they were aiming to raise well over $100,000 through this year's appeal.
"That would be a great effort," he said.
The national fundraising target is $81.5 million.
"It's a very worthy cause and only takes two or three hours out of your time," Mr Butler said.
The annual Red Shield business launch is next week - 7am Wednesday, May 2, at the Gladstone Entertainment Centre and the doorknock appeal follows on the weekend May 19-20.
"It's a great support to the community and we would really appreciate your help so give us a call,"
