Safety at risk due to bridge work
NRG Power Station's general manager Glenn Schumacher is concerned for the safety of his workers.
"Traffic safety is an issue with our workers," he said.
"There is a concerning amount of traffic travelling along that stretch of road, which isn't helped by the fact (the power plant) has a particularly bad exit.
"We had an accident in that area just two weeks ago. We are concerned about the amount of traffic we are seeing."
Mr Schumacher said although he had been working closely with the Department of Transport and Main Roads to monitor progress on the Calliope River Bridge repairs, he would like to see works finished sooner rather than later.
"I think anybody who uses this road wants to see it finished as soon as possible," he said. "The sooner it's finished the better."
Mr Schumacher also said the problems of dangerous traffic areas weren't just restricted to the bridge.
"There is a lot of development going on in that area immediately outside and around the power plant and I would like to see an overall plan for the future of this main road," he said.
