RSPCA reckons abusers pay

RSPCA spokesperson Michael Beatty has faith in Queensland magistrates.

Although unable to comment specifically on the case of Sergeant and Major, Mr Beatty said recent sentencing throughout the state for animal cruelty had shown magistrates were taking the matters seriously.

"We the RSPCA believe the community takes animal cruelty very seriously indeed," he said.

It is an attitude Mr Beatty believes he can see reflected in the court room.

"In recent times, we have been heartened to see magistrates taking animal cruelty more seriously perhaps than in past years," he said.

The man alleged to have committed the offences against Major and Sergeant will appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court.
