DESPITE having cycled a whopping 151km in one day the Chain Reaction cycling team rolled in to Gladstone yesterday with big smiles.

The team still has some way to go in the week-long, 1000km journey from Rockhampton to Brisbane.

The crew took solace in the fact it had reached its $750,000 fundraising target for the Royal Children's Hospital and Starlight Children's Foundation.

Chain Reaction CEO John Ward said the original target would be revised to $800,000.

"This is fabulous news and gives everyone an extra kick-along," he said.

Athletes Emma Carney, Troy Fidler and Ashley Hutchinson were in Gladstone as part of the cycling team.
