WHEN it comes to red-carpet glamour and pure spectacle, few events can compete with when the rich and famous flock to the French Riviera for the Cannes Film Festival.

Cannes is one of the most romantic settings and this month a plethora of beauties dressed in fashion's most exalted designers for various events from May 14 to 25.

Award for belle of the Cannes ball this year landed squarely at Blake Lively's feet, who stepped out in a list of incredible designs.

Although the average girl may not have the privilege of wearing designer couture we can at least take some inspiration for our own formal events.
