Readers say Hoggies the best place for steak

HOG's Breath has been voted as the best place for a steak in Gladstone, closely followed by Ribs and Rumps, and the Harvey Road Tavern.

We asked our Facebook likers to tell us where to get a good steak, and there was a wide range of answers.

Lynsay Cleary, Gayle Bianchi, Zoe Jackson, Michalle Schmidt and Cherie Wairau all had Hog's Breath at the top of their list, while Linda Hayward and Stacey Wheeler voted for Harvey Road Tavern.

Mel Bland and Jesso Robson gave Ribs and Rumps the thumbs up, while Daz Bambrick is a fan of the Queens Hotel.
Katie Talmage nominated The Young Oz.

"Tasty, relatively cheap, always cooked to perfection and we never have trouble getting a table," she said.

Cooking at home also was a popular option.

Patricia Higgs shared her secret to the perfect steak: Barney Point, MSA sirloin. Cook in pepper steak seasoning , fry in a little butter and add thickened cream. Simmer until cream thickens, with vegie bake or chips and salad.

Natasha Fee also was a fan of home cooking, saying her husband cooked the best steaks.

Other places to get a mention included the Raglan Tavern, Dicey's, Bow River, the Railway Hotel at Calliope, Rocksalt and the Brass Bell.
