Rates notices head for your mailbox

RESIDENTS will begin receiving their rates notices from today.

Gladstone Regional Council ratepayers who pay by close of business on September 26 will receive a 10% discount on their general rates and charges.

Landowners who do not pay by 4.45pm on the due date will forego the discount as well as incur interest of 11% per annum, compounding daily, unless they have entered into an instalment agreement with the council.

Ratepayers should contact the council immediately upon receipt of their notice if they cannot pay their rates in full by the due date in order to negotiate a payment plan.

For more information or assistance with your rates notice, phone the council on 4976 6999 or visit http://www.gladstone.qld.gov.au and follow the "Find out about Rates" link under the "I want to …" heading on the home page.

A "Council Rates Frequently Asked Questions" fact sheet is also available online.

PAYMENT FACTS

Water rates for the previous six months will be included in ratepayers' rates figures and payment methods available to property owners include BPAY, POSTbillpay, in person at council offices, by mail or credit card.

The notices will also be accompanied by a rates information booklet and important information about council expenditure and pensioner rebate.
