Preps try out job
THE big machines at Bechtel put on a show for students from St Stephen's Lutheran College on Tuesday.
The Prep students took a tour through the Bechtel mainland aggregate facility.
They watched on in awe as the loaders and conveyors pumped tonnes of rock on to the barge bound for the construction site for the LNG projects on Curtis Island.
The tour was part of an annual Jobs People Do program, which visits various workplaces in the region.
St Stephen's teacher Sue Jerez said the students loved the opportunity to get up close to the machinery.
"It is a great opportunity for the students to experience the different careers that are available to them and, although they are a long way off from starting work, this program is something they can relate to and get excited about," she said.
